Raipur. On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has conveyed his regards to the families of the martyred soldiers. Director-General of Police will present the Chief Minister's message to the families of the martyr himself. The Superintendents of Police of the respective districts will also extend greetings on Chief Minister's behalf to the family of martyr's. The Police Headquarters have given directions for the same.

While paying tribute to the martyrs, the Chief Minister said that since the formation of the state, five-hundred-seventeen brave soldiers of Chhattisgarh Police lost their lives while showing indomitable courage. The government is taking prompt action for the welfare of the families of the martyrs. Forty-seven martyr family have been given appointments on compassionate grounds in the last two years. Also, the families of the martyr received immediate assistance of about twenty-one crores.

"After a soldier falls, we always worry that their families should not have to face financial hardship. In this regard, on the proposal of the state government, the ex-gratia amount, given by the Government of India to the families of the martyred soldiers, was increased from three lakh to twenty lakh rupees." 

Chief Minister Baghel said that the families of the martyrs should not consider themselves alone, "You are a part of our family, and we are always with you in all your happiness and sorrows. Deepawali is a festival to lift the darkness and spread light. My best wishes on this festival are that there may always be the light of happiness in your family." 

Remembering the martyrdom of the soldiers, Chief Minister said that "They did not even care for their life while showing extraordinary bravery and loyalty. The whole country will remember the martyrdom of our soldiers, not just Chhattisgarh."
