Bilaspur: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bilaspur Shailesh Pandey on Saturday Visited an Anganwadi Centre on the Jail Road here to take stock of ‘Vajan Tyohar’ (Weight Festival) being celebrated enthusiastically under the aegis of Women and Child Development Department of Chhattisgarh Government. He found that women here were being informed about nutrition food, children up to five years old were being weighed and hemoglobin of girl child between age group of 11 and 18 was being tested.
MLA Pandey said that the Vajan Tyohar is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the district with the support of Anganwadi workers and assistants. He said that it is important for every mother to know the exact weight of her child so that they can take proper care of her child’s food. If a child is underweight and comes under the malnourishment category, then it is vital for a mother to give him or her nutritious food, the MLA said.
Target to identify malnourished children and overcome the issue
Chief Minister Suposhan Abhiyan and Vajan Tyohar aim at educating women on nutrition food so that they can take proper care of their children’s diet. If the needle of the weighing machine being used for measuring the weight of the children stops at the red indicator of the machine then it means the child is highly malnourished and every mother should know this. In such a situation, mothers must take special care of their children’s food.
