Kondagaon. The Kondagaon district has started a successful initiative to empower women financially. About seventy women are working together under this scheme and have become economically independent.
They have earned about one lakh rupees till now.
The Kondagaon District Administration established the Aajeevika Complex for the economic empowerment of women. The complex is aptly named the 'UDAN Mahila Krishak Producer Company'. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had inaugurated the Complex in January. He also met with the women working here and praised them. The women working in the complex are earning good money. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel once again appreciated the great work that the women are doing, virtually on Sunday.
Women are working more than 14 different jobs in the complex. For this, the administration has provided machines. Till now, the ladies have earned more than Rs 1,28,000. The products have found better markets; the Sanjeevani Centers of Forest Department, Chhattisgarh Herbal and various marketing companies at the state level will buy these products.
From local products like Spices Turmeric, Coriander, Chilli, to products like cookies, Kodo, Kutki, Ragi, Cookies, Coconut Oil, Sleeper Unit, Non-Woolen Bags, Dona Pattal, Agarbatti and Incense Sticks, Poultry Feed, Cement, Fly Ash Bricks, nails, and eggs, are manufactured here. The women receive training before starting any work.
There are 117 Gothans in Kondagaon district under the state government's ambitious Narva, Garuva, Ghurva and Bari scheme. There are 98 self-help groups with 1044 members, all of whom are engaged in some economic activity. They manufacture Maize, tamarind products, vermicompost, vegetables, turmeric, ginger and other products here. The Udaan Krishak Producer Company will sell these products in the market. Through this, about 70 women of Udaan will get Rs 4,000-5,000, while 200 women of Gothan will get Rs 2,500-3,000 indirectly.
Collector Pushpendra Meena said that the district administration is working to improve the economic condition by connecting rural youths and girls with vocation. In Aajeevika Complex, women learn various employment-oriented jobs. Women are empowering themselves through work.
