Farming will become more profitable with Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel said that under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, farmers growing various Kharif crops in Chhattisgarh will be given Grant amount of Rs 9,000 and those growing crops other than paddy in paddy area will be given assistance at the rate of Rs 10,000 per acre. This will increase the income of the farmers and make farming more profitable. The farmers of state are getting the highest price of paddy in the country.

He was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj organized at Nardaha near Raipur on Sunday. On this occasion the newly elected Central President of Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj Chovaram Verma took oath. Along with him the newly elected office-bearers also took oath. The chief minister also released a social magazine in the function.

Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel saluted the ancestors and personalities of the society and said that they have made remarkable contribution in the field of education and social reform. This society is basically a farming society and has contributed a lot, during the independence movement, state formation and in promoting farming. He said that the state government has started a health scheme in the name of Dr. Khubchand Baghel and a school scheme in the name of Swami Atmanand to promote excellence in education. Similarly, the song 'Arpa Parri Ke Dhar...' composed by Dr. Narendra Verma has been made the state song.

He added that there is a shortage of chemical fertilizers in the entire country. About 38 lakh metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers are needed in our country, but only about 18 lakh metric tonnes of chemical fertilizers are being produced in the country. Farming cultivation has been encouraged through vermi and compost manure made in Gothans of Chhattisgarh. This has helped in making the land fertile and increasing the productivity. There is a need that our farmers and villagers should increase the production and use of vermicompost and compost manure in future also. Due to this, their fields will not be affected by the shortage caused by chemical fertilizers.

Chief minister administered oath to the farmers of Chhattisgarh to donate fodder to the Gothans. He also appealed not to leave their animals outside to graze in the open to save the crop. This will benefit the second crop.

Rajya Sabha MP Chhaya Verma also addressed the function. She said that along with all the office bearers taking oath, it is the responsibility of all the members of the society to take the society forward. She also advocated for furthering the equality of women.
