Raipur: In protest against frequent accidents in the state capital Raipur, students took to the streets on Wednesday. Large numbers of students formed a human chain on Raipur-Bilaspur road, raising slogans in writing form. Students, as well as local residents, demanded to construct an underpass. According to information, police reached the spot and attempted to convince till filing this report.
The students were opposing the government’s alleged apathy towards taking concrete measures to prevent accidents in the Dharsiwa area. Children often fall prey to accidents in the area, they alleged.
Students of a school here and local residents staged a demonstration on the highway. However, they did not disturb the vehicular movement as they formed the human chain on the roadside.
The school students raised slogans like ‘Yuva Manch Ki Yahi Pukar, Sadak Suraksha par Diya Jay Dhyan’, ‘Underbridge ka Karo Nirman’, ‘Chhatra-Chhatraon Ki Yahi Hai Manage etc . Local residents have also arranged a temporary shed for the children on the roadside. According to reports last came in, tehsildar along with police reached the spot.
