Raigarh. Yesterday, a twelve-year-old boy got abducted in Raigarh, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₹ 5,00,000 from the family. Officers immediately acted on the information and reached the outpost of Reruma at night. Santosh Kumar Singh, SP Raigarh, reached the Reruma outpost and prepared a team to rescue the kidnapped child. The police team has recovered the child safely. One of the arrested was recently involved in a robbery. The culprits had carefully organised the abduction, but the police thwarted their plans.
On 24.12.2020, Sanju Bada came to Reruma police station and informed that his 12-year-old son, Rahul Bada, was kidnapped by unknown accused and that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of ₹ 5,00,000. Outpost in-charge Sub Inspector, James Minz, immediately informed SP of Raigarh, Santosh Kumar Singh. The Superintendent of Police sent additional SP Abhishek Verma, Assistant Superintendent of Police Pushkar Sharma, SDOP Sushil Nayak to Reruma.
The police team questioned the victim's family and about hundred-and-fifty people of village Barhamada at night. The entire district was on high alert. The child's father, on close questioning, revealed that a few months ago he sold his ancestral land, and had discussed buying an SUV among his acquaintances with the money. The motive for the kidnapping was confirmed, and this speeded up the investigation.
Unconfirmed news about the involvement of one Arun Toppo and one Vikas Tirkey, who had come back after losing his job during the lockdown, was received. The three were not in the village since yesterday, which further raised suspicion.
In the morning, the police team found out that three masked men had a child restrained in the forest. By day, the police party had received concrete information that the armed kidnappers had the child. Meanwhile, Santosh Kumar Singh reached Reruma. After taking information about the events and progress from the Additional SP, he prepared a team for saving the child and held a meeting with the officials at the outpost and gave necessary guidelines regarding the rescue. The plan was that there should be a safe recovery of the child under any circumstances. The accused sensed the siege, and they tried to flee. However, the police party surrounded them from all sides and caught the three kidnappers. The criminals- Vikas Tirkey, Arun Toppo and Rameshwar Manjhi - are in custody after nearly twelve hours of struggle. The child was recovered and reunited with his family.
DGP DM Awasthi has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to the police team. He said that the Raigarh police rescued the child safely within 12 hours, for which the police team deserves congratulations. The team will also be honoured for this success
