Nand Kumar Baghel tender apology for his remark, but said he is ready to give his life for rights of SC, ST and OBC.
Nand Kumar Baghel, father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, was booked by D D Nagar Police of Raipur for his alleged objectionable statement on Brahmin community and Lord Rama. Meanwhile, Nand Kumar Baghel took to social media to tender apology for his remark. He wrote, “I am regretted if anybody is hurt by my remark, but I am not only ready to serve jail but also ready to give my life for SC, ST and OBC. I would continue fight for the rights of SC, ST and OBC till I am alive.”
Police filed a first information report against Nand Kumar Baghel on the basis of a complaint by Sarv Brahmin Samaj , according to police.
According to the complaint, Nand Kumar Baghel had allegedly described Brahmins as foreigners and appealed people to boycott them and not let them enter their villages.
Brahmin Samaj said complaint that a video containing the alleged derogatory remarks by Nand Kumar Baghel is available on social media platforms. Police have registered a case under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 505(1)(b) (with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or against the public tranquility) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are investigating further.
