Raipur: First successful open heart surgery has been performed at Advance Cardiac Institute (ACI) of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital.
Health minister TS Singh Deo on Wednesday visited Advanced Cardiac Institute to review the arrangements and met the patient Sunita Singh whose successful open heart surgery has been performed at the ACI. Sunita Singh, who came to the Advanced Cardiac Institute with a heart hole problem, has been given free successful treatment through an ASD closure. She is very excited to go back to her home healthy and happily.
On the occasion, the minister appreciated the doctors and gave them best wishes for this achievement. He further said that at present there is a facility of about 40 beds in this institute. A target has been set to increase the number of beds upto 200, so that economically weaker states do not need to go out and get treatment, he said.
Meanwhile, with the increasing medical facilities in the state, Chhattisgarh is now setting the dimensions of success, in which the Advance Cardiac Institute, Mekahara Raipur has recorded a historic achievement. In the year 2017, this institute was only available for the treatment of heart attack patients under the Escorts Hospital. However, other facilities including valves, heart diseases, open heart surgeries have been started at the advanced cardiac institute here. Free of cost treatment is being provided to the citizens. Various types of facilities including OPD, TMT are being provided in this institute, benefitting about 200 cardiac patients and on average 1500 patients of all categories every year.
