Raipur: Free of cost dialysis facility is being provided in eight district hospitals of the state under the banner of 'Jeevan Dhara' as a part of National Free Dialysis Program under National Health Mission.
Patients suffering from kidney diseases have to undergo frequent dialysis for a long time which creates a huge financial burden on them. Due to the availability of dialysis facilities at the local level, people suffering from kidney diseases do not have to go far. It is also saving labor, money and time of patients and their families.
Free dialysis facility is being provided by the National Health Mission, Chhattisgarh in six districts of the state including Durg, Kanker, Korba, Bilaspur, Mahasamund and Bijapur since the year 2020. This facility has also been started in Jashpur and Surguja in June this year which has increased the number of free dialysis centers in the state to eight. For dialysis, five machines have been set up in Jashpur and four in Ambikapur.
A total of 12,933 dialysis sessions have been conducted so far in eight district hospitals under the National Free Dialysis Program. Of these, 3499 sessions have been conducted in Durg district, 2606 in Kanker, 1793 in Korba, 1864 in Bilaspur, 2370 in Mahasamund, 776 in Bijapur, 14 in Surguja and 11 in Jashpur.
