Raipur: Taking a jibe at Congress government in Chhattisgarh, the former chief minister of Chhattisgarh and BJP national vice president Dr Raman Singh said that the Congress government has become a money-grubber for the last 15 years and trying to loot money as much as possible because this opportunity will not come again.
Addressing BJP's Durg division level Kisan Mahapanchayat held today at Kabirdham district the ex-chief minister cited the example of fodder scam case of Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bihar and said that Bhupesh led Congress government is doing ‘gobar ghotala’ (cow dung scam) in Chhattisgarh.
Singh added that the Bhupesh government had promised to procure paddy at Rs 2500 per quintal. However, the farmers had not received their money for over one and a half years. Besides, the government had also promised for liquor ban which has not even imposed yet. About 255 farmers were forced to commit suicide in the last one year, yet the government did not wake up from sleep. A minor girl was raped in Kawardha, when ABVP workers raised their voice for the same, they were sent to jail, he said.
Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha MP Santosh Pandey said that the farmers here can sell their produce whenever and wherever they want after the bill is passed. The debate over the bill was held 4 times when it came to Lok Sabha. Thereafter it went to Rajya Sabha and then to the President of India. Today, one percent of farmers of Punjab and Haryana are working to create misconceptions regarding the bill. However, this bill is in the interest of farmers.
Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said that one of the goals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to make the country self-reliant and with this thinking, the Farmers Bill has been implemented. After losing the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi is opposing the bill as a part of revenge. Even 5 percent have not read the agricultural bill here. He said that there is no need to speak about the bill once read you yourself will come to know. The Congress is using farmers for the 2024 election; the BJP will win more than 350 seats in the coming elections.
The Central Government is organizing the Kisan Mahapanchayats to provide correct information to the farmers about the agricultural bill. In this sequence, a divisional level Kisan Mahapanchayat was organized at Kawardha on Friday. Leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly Dharamlal Kaushik, district president Anil Thakur, veteran BJP leaders and more than 3,000 farmers were present in the programme.
