Raipur: Ecommerce marketplace including Amazon and Flipkart will no longer be able to sell knives online in Chhattisgarh.
In response to the police notice, both the companies have given assurance for the same. If knives are supplied even after the promise, then legal action will be taken against them, said the police.
Meanwhile, SSP Ajay Yadav had issued strict instructions regarding the increase in cases of knife-keeping and knife-pelting on a large scale by minors. A campaign was launched to gather information regarding sale of knives on online shopping sites. According to the police, many minors in the city had started ordering buttons and spring knives online. After this, the police issued a notice to the online shopping site asking for information about the sale of professional knives along with the general, then started the process of confiscation of knives by running a campaign.
Warning the parents of minor children who order knives online, the police got an affidavit filled by them not to keep such weapons in future. According to ASP City Lakhan Patle, when both the online companies were informed about the ban on buttoned knives in the state, they have assured the police not to take orders for buttoned knives online in any city of the state.
Even after the warning, if information is received about the delivery of banned knives by online companies, then legal action will be taken against both the companies, said ASP.
