Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced an increase in dearness allowance to government servants and pensioners of the state by 5 per cent with effect from July 1, 2021. About 4 lakh government servants and 1 lakh 25 thousand pensioners of the state will get its benefit. As a result of this increase, the total annual expenditure burden on the State Government will come to Rs.1020 crore.
The Chief Minister made this announcement after a positive discussion with the delegation of the Chhattisgarh Employees-Officers Federation at his residence office here today. The Chief Minister assured early decision after examining the demand for arrears of dearness allowance. Bhupesh Baghel said that a committee would be constituted under the chairmanship of a principal secretary-level officer to get the remaining demands of the officers-employees examined. The delegation of the Federation thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the dearness allowance and relaxing the provisions of compassionate appointment in the interest of officers and employees.
From March 2020 till now, the entire global economy has been badly affected due to Covid-19. In the last one and a half years, there has been no expected increase in revenue collection and financial assistance to the economically weaker sections, farmers, labourers and other affected sections during this calamity, up-gradation of health infrastructure and necessary medicines, materials for the treatment of Covid-19. The State Government made arrangements on priority to ensure supply from limited supplies. All this has put immense pressure on the resources of the state.
