Raipur: Health and Family Welfare Minister of Chhattisgarh T S Singh Deo reportedly called on All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Wednesday, reviving the speculations over the two and a half year formula for the post of chief minister in the state.
Sources, however, claimed that Singhdeo had an elaborate discussion with Sonia Gandhi over the present political scenario in Chhattisgarh and ongoing preparations for the 2023 Assembly elections. Singhdeo had returned to Raipur on the same day after his meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
Even as sources claimed that Singhdeo will be given a big role at the national level like Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, it was learned from reliable sources that Singhdeo may be the next chief minister of Chhattisgarh if the party retains the power in the state. It is to be mentioned, Baghel has been appointed as AICC senior observer for UP Assembly poll.
Singhdeo also expressed his wish before Sonia Gandhi that he should be given a free hand to work.
It is worthwhile to mention, Baghel had met with Sonia Gandhi and Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi in New Delhi on November 12. However, Baghel had said that he could not meet Sonia Gandhi. The meeting with Sonia Gandhi could not be held due to Covid-19 protocols.
