The state will proper when villages prosper: CM Bhupesh Baghel.

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel conferred the 21st Vasundhara Samman on eminent litterateur and journalist Satish Jaiswal during a function organised at Chief Minister’s official residence here on Saturday. The Chief Minister congratulated writer Jaiswal on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh will become prosperous when its villages proper. Besides, focus on the improvement of villagers, farmers and labourers, folk art and culture will have to be preserved.

Baghel said that the Congress government has been working to strengthen the rural economy which has been the dream of Mahatma Gandhi. This is also a true tribute to the late Devi Prasad who followed the Gandhian way, Baghel added.

In his presiding speech, Culture Minister Amarjeet Bhagat congratulated Jaiswal for the honour. Senior journalist Dr Himanshu Dwivedi was the keynote speaker at the programme.

Senior journalist Ramesh Nayyar and recipient of the award Jaiswal also addressed the programme.

Late Deviprasad Choubey’s sons Pradeep Choubey, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, State Commission for Women Dr Kiranmayi Nayak, State Yoga Commission Chairman Gyanesh Sharma, State Farmers’ Welfare Board Chairman Surendra Sharma, State Antavasayi Sahkari Vitt Nigam Vice-Chairman Neeta Lodhi, Rajya Bunkar Sahkari Sangh Chairman Motilal Dewangan, convener of the Vasundhara Samman Vinod Mishra, Organising Committee Chairman Arun Shrivastava, Secretary Mumtaj and others attended the function. Professor D N Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme.

The Vasundhara Samman was instituted in 2001. Earlier, Ramesh Nayyar, Kumar Sahu, Shyamlal Chaturvedi, Basant Kumar Tiwari, Baban Prasad Mishra, Diwakar Muktibodh, Asha Shukla, Sharad Kothari, Girija Shankar, Himanshu Dwivedi, Vinod Shankar Shukla, Gyan Awasthi, Shyam Vetal, Abhay Kishore, Girish Pankaj, Sushil Trivedi, B K S Ray, Prakash Dubey, Tushar Kanti Bose and E V Murli had received this award.

The 58th edition of magazine Vasundhara and 109th edition of magazine Bahumat was also released in the function.

The event was organised by Vasundhara magazine in collaboration with the Culture Department, Government of Chhattisgarh and Shri Chaturbhuj Memorial Foundation.
