Raipur:Nand Kumar Baghel, 86-year-old father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister BhupeshBaghel, was on Tuesday arrested by Raipur police on the basis of a case registered against Nand Kumar Baghelfor making derogatory remarks on Brahmin community and Lord Rama in Lucknow recently. Police produced NandKumar Baghel in a local court in Raipur after the arrest. Nand Kumar Baghel reportedly said that Brahmins are foreigners and they should not be allowed to enter the temples for rituals.
It is worthwhile to mention, SarvBrahmin Samaj has made a written complaint against Nand Kumar Baghel to D D Nagar police. A first information report was filed by the police on September 4 for his alleged derogatory statement, according to police.
On the complaint, Nand Kumar Baghelwas booked under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 505(1)(b) (with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the State or against the public tranquility) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Further information on Nand Kumar Baghel was awaited.
