Sarangarh: While investigating a major theft that occurred at Laxmi Jewellers in the Saranggarh area of the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, police busted this inter-state gang that had plans to execute a major dacoity in Raigarh after committing such crime in the adjacent districts. However, Saranggarh police succeeded in nabbing the accused before they could commit another dacoity.
According to DSP Abhishek Verma, Saranggarh TI Amit Shukla was tipped off about the suspect persons sitting on the banks of a pond and planning for some incident. Acting swiftly, the TI under the directives of the senior police officers, reached the said spot along with adequate force and nabbed six persons. A Swift Car bearing registration number CG 12 A K 8606 was seized from the spot. ‘Media’ was written on the car. Besides, two-wheelers were also seized. All of them were identified as habitual criminals. On being interrogated, it was revealed that they were planning for a dacoity.
The accused identified as Loknath alias Bhoko Jatvar, 22, resident of Mandhaibhata, Baloda Bazaar, Rahul Premi, 19, Mandhaibhata, Ankush Bareth, 26, resident of Andola, Kosir police station, Sagar alias Tingalu Bharti, 21, Dahida, Kosir, Pradeep Kumar Bharadwaj alias Khandu, 32, Dahida, Kosir. The minor told police that the five accused had used the car in several theft and dacoity incidents. They used to distributed the stolen amount and valuable between them. Recently, they had stolen Rs 70-80 thousand from Sushil Kirana Store in Sarsivan and four motorcycles from Sakti area, committed theft at a general store in Singhoda area of Mahasamund district.
They had united to plan for a big crime and their target was jewellery shop/bank this time. Police also seized pistol, sword and other sharp-aged weapons from the accused. Police registered case against the accused under Sections 399, 402 of IPC, 25 Arms Act and sent them on judicial remand.
