Villagers of the Koyalibeda staged a sit-in protest in Antagarh, warn of violent agitation if their demands are not met.

Dispatch News.

Raipur. Villagers of the Koyalibeda area of ‚Äč‚Äčtribal-dominated Kanker district staged a sit-in protest in Antagarh today. They demanded that the 68 villages of 18 panchayats should come under the Narayanpur district. Because the Kanker district headquarter is about 150 km away from Koyalibeda. The distance of Narayanpur district headquarters is only 65 kilometres. By joining Narayanpur district, people will save on commute costs to the district headquarters and save time. Apart from this, the local tribal families living below the poverty line cannot reach Kanker for their works. These will also be able to get to Narayanpur. The villagers who were protesting mentioned many advantages of joining the Narayanpur district. The Koyalibeda area does not even have a college for the education of tribal children to date; it is backward.

The situation is even worse in the inner villages. Most of them become isolated during the rainy season. The villagers have warned that they will launch a violent agitation if their voices are not heard, and the government will be responsible for it.
