Chhattisgarh HC reserves it verdict in a plea filed by former minister Nanki Ram Kanwar

Raipur: Chhattisgarh High Court has reserved its verdict in a petition filed by former minister Nanki Ram Kanwar challenging the case registered against him under the Representation of People Act.

The bench of Justice Sanjay K Agrawal reserved its decision after the completion of hearing of case on Saturday.

As per official sources, during the 2013 assembly elections, a complaint was made to the police against former minister Nanki Ram Kanwar, allegedly accusing him of distributing election symbol and printed badge to the voters 24 hours before the polling day. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case against Kanwar under Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act.

Kanwar moved the High Court challenging the case filed against him. He said in the petition that the place where he was not present at the place where has been allegedly accused of distributing the said stuffs. Besides, the police has registered case against him without permission from the magistrate which is contrary to the law.
