Bilaspur. MP Arun Sav again raised the issue of Katghora-Mungeli-Dongargarh railway line during zero-hour in Lok Sabha on Friday. He said that there is no progress in this project approved in 2018. The Railway Minister should take a personal interest in this new railway project and speed up the work. Earlier, a joint working agency of Ministry of Railways and Chhattisgarh Rail Corporation Limited was to lay new railway lines. The previous government of the state had issued a notification for land acquisition on the prescribed route. This long-neglected project of railway facilities for the district was raised by MP Sav once again in the Lok Sabha. They had raised this issue in Parliament earlier also. During Zero Hour on Friday, Arun Sav said that the country is nearing seventy-five years of independence, but the people of Mungeli and Kabirdham district still do not have rail facilities. In Mungeli, the laying the railway line started during the British rule, but with the end of the British rule, that plan stopped. After Prime Minister Modi came to power, an MoU between the previous Raman government and the Railway Ministry of the state was for two-hundred-seventy-seven km from Katghora to Mungeli to Dongargarh. The estimated cost of the project then was Rs 4821 crore. Yet, there is no progress in the work of this as of project today.
