Raipur: With the battle over two and a half year formula for the post of Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh entered its final round on Friday morning, the next few hours will be crucial for the two senior Congress leaders including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and State Health Minister T S Singhdeo. All eyes are now set on the development taking place in Delhi where Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will be meeting with Congress high command Sonia Gandhi along with around 40 MLAs who said to have reached Delhi in support of Baghel.
Even as the battle of Chief Minister post is mainly being fought Baghel and Singhdeo, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant and Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu may be the third choice if disputes between Baghel and Singhdeo is not resolved. Either Dr Mahant or Sahu may be rewarded, sources claimed. It is said that Chief Minister has left for New Delhi and he may meet Sonia Gandhi over the development and he is expected to return to Raipur this evening. Baghel might meet Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
According to latest development, 35 MLAs have reached Delhi and have been accommodated in a hotel near Delhi airport. Around 20 more MLAs are expected to reach Delhi this afternoon. After their meeting with Chhattisgarh Congress In-charge, the MLAs will seek time to meet with AICC Organisation General Secretary K C Venugopal and Rahul Gandhi to put their point before them.
On the other hand, Singhdeo and Baghel supporters have indulged in the war over social media. A post by Nandkumar Baghel, father of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, went viral which is being seen as a warning. Nandkumar Baghel writes the high command should take a decision considering the consequences. It is to be mentioned, Baghel represents OBC voters of the state , and OBC population of the state is more than 30 per cent.
According to sources in Delhi, more than 40 MLAs has reached Delhi and all of them are said to be the supporter of Baghel. According to one of the Baghel supporters Devendra Yadav, they are serving the people Chhattisgarh under the leadership of Baghel. They will talk with the high command. He said, ‘Chhattisgarh Ada Hua Hai, Bhupesh Ke Saath Khada Hua Hai’.
The big question is that if there is no threat to the post of Chief Minister then why MLAs are displaying strength in Delhi.
