Raipur. One of country's foremost progressive thinker, writer, poet and senior journalist, Lalit Surjan died tonight in a hospital in Delhi. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed deep sorrow over Lalit Surjan's death. The Chief Minister, in his condolence message, said that the news about Lalit Surjan's demise has come as a shock. "Today Chhattisgarh lost one of its sons. Lalit Bhaiya carried the flame which Mayaram Surjan lit through the Deshbandhu against communalism and complacency. Throughout his life, he did not compromise on values. I knew Lalit Bhaiya since my student days, and after getting into politics, I asked for his guidance from time to time. He kept a close watch on politics and had a sincere faith in democracy. His deep reverence for Nehruji inspired me a lot. Under his direction, the Deshbandhu has produced dozens of journalists, which both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh can be proud of." May he rest in peace.
