Raipur. Today Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, T S Singhdeo, spoke in a special broadcast of 'Hamar Gram Sabha' of Akashvani Raipur. He talked about the State Government's ambitious 'Narwa-Garwa-Ghurwa-au-Badi' (NGGB) scheme. The NGGB scheme will financially strengthen the village and also help in building up agricultural resources, claimed the minister. T S Singhdeo also answered audience questions during the event.
The Panchayat and Rural Development Minister told the audience in 'Hamar Gram Sabha' that the traditional cattle sheds (Gothan) will have new facilities added into them. The traditional cattle-sheds will become a day-care shelter. They will also have ties to many kinds of employment through self-help groups. Women seeking self-employment in cultivation related businesses like vermicompost, poultry, fisheries, vegetable farming etc. will be given space for the same, as well as for the production of everyday products such as soaps, incense sticks, flowerpots, earthen lamps. He said that he hoped that self-help groups would play a significant role in the management of Gothans.
T S Singhdeo said that the NGGB Scheme is ideologically close to Mahatma Gandhi's vision of the independent village. It promotes organic and sustainable farming, conservation and management of water, proper care of livestock, the fertility of agricultural land, and improved nutrition levels. The scheme is pivotal in boosting the income of the villagers. He also underlined the roles of Panchayat and Rural Development, Water Resources, CREDA, Forest, Agriculture, Livestock Development and Horticulture departments in the implementation of NGGB scheme during the program.
