Raipur. FICCI Smart Policing Award; the ceremony honours community policing and innovative actions in various categories. The award aims to change public perception and build a positive and progressive image of the police. Among the different police departments honoured in the ceremony, the "Every Head Helmet" campaign run by IPS Arif Sheikh stood out. The campaign was the brainchild of IPS Arif Sheikh. In 2019, then SSP distributed around 16000 helmets in about six-hours and set a world record. The campaign received accolades in the Smart Policing Award for Road Safety and Traffic Management.
The campaign began on August 5, 2019; Manoj Kumar Aggarwal, president of Nirman Education, Yoga and Sports Institute, provided one-hundred helmets to the police department. The police department decided to give these helmets to those who use weak and old ones. The awareness drive "Every Head Helmet" was born; the initiative received public support and turned into a campaign. It was important that motorcyclists, as well as others, become aware of traffic rules. Senior Superintendent of Police Arif Sheikh worked to make people aware through social media, print media etc. Soon everyone became involved in this. Some businessmen, voluntary organizations, various people of the corporate world provided helmets to the police administration for distribution. Under the campaign, the distribution of 15223 helmets from the distribution centres installed at 147 sites took place on August 15, and 16000 people pledged to follow the traffic rules regularly. The distribution of the most helmets in one day was awarded the "Golden Book of World Records", "Asia Book of Records", and "India Book of Records". IPS Arif Sheikh has launched several campaigns such as Amacho Bastar, Amacho Police, Rakhi with Khaki, Mission e Raksha, Silent Break in various areas of Chhattisgarh for community policing. Earlier, IPS Arif Sheikh had also received a 40-under-40 award by the US-based international body IACP. For this successful campaign, he praised the people of Raipur and all voluntary organizations involved.
