4 jawans and bus driver killed in an IED blast trigged by Maoists in Narayanpur

Raipur: Four District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and bus driver were killed in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Narayanpur on Tuesday.

The Naxalites targeted a bus carrying a total of 24 jawans. As many as 8 jawans are said to be injured in the blast. Chhattisgarh DGP DM Awasthi has confirmed the incident. Soon after receiving the information, a backup force has been sent to the incident spot.

Bastar IG P Sundararaj said that the DRG force was returning after an anti-Naxal operation in Narayanpur. At the same time, 4 soldiers along with the driver of the bus were killed in an IED blast. Two jawans have been seriously injured in this incident and 12 jawans have been reported to have suffered general injuries. The injured soldiers are being sent to Raipur by air force helicopter.

According to police sources, there is a dense forest between Dhaudai and Pallanar in the Kadenar area of ​​the district. The Naxalites have targeted the bus for IED blast here. It is being told that these soldiers were going to Mandoda. Currently, the operation to rescue the soldiers is going on. An additional reinforcement party has been sent to the scene.

Meanwhile, the Naxalites had proposed peace talks to the government on March 17. The Naxalites had issued a release saying that they are ready to negotiate with the Chhattisgarh government for the betterment of the public and also down three conditions for negotiation. These included removal of the armed forces, lifting of restrictions on Maoist organizations and the unconditional release of their leaders in jail.
