Chhattisgarh HC dismisses application for interim relief moved by suspended IPS officer GP Singh

Raipur: Chhattisgarh High Court has dismissed application for interim relief moved by suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) G P Singh, in the cases filed against him on the charges of sedition, corruption and promoting enmity by the state police.

The bench of Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas on Friday dismissed the application declining grant of any relief to the suspended IPS officer besides clarifying that submissions made by both the parties for the purpose of deciding the application for interim relief has been considered by the Court. The High Court has directed state to file its reply within four weeks.

Singh had moved the High Court a day after the Raipur police registered an FIR against him on the charges of sedition under IPC section 124A and 153A IPC for promoting enmity. In his petition, Singh had also sought an interim relief of stay on the cases against him. He had also prayed for a CBI inquiry into the allegations against him claiming that action against him was ‘prejudiced’.
