Chhattisgarh BJP Kisan Morcha state vice president Gauri Shankar demands action against Bayer company on fake seed issue, Chhattisgarh BJP to launch movement against fake seeds from Monday

Raipur: Chhattisgarh BJP is going to launch a movement against fake seeds issue in state starting from Monday.

Chhattisgarh BJP Kisan Morcha state vice president Gauri Shankar Srivas alleged that many companies like Bayer are indulged in fake seeds production in state. These fake seeds are costing heavily to the farmers. Due to lack of production last year due to nonstandard seeds, many farmers committed suicide. This time too, the banned seed 8433 of multinational companies has been consumed in the open market in collaboration with the state government, he said.

“BJP is very serious about this matter. All the documents have been given by writing a letter to the authority concerned and a Public Interest Litigation will also be filed in the High Court soon. Keeping in view the convenience of the farmers suffering from non-standard seeds, a toll free number will be issued next week so that all the cases against such seed producing company will be registered”, Srivas said.

Besides, Srivas has written a letter to Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar and besides chief secretary of Chhattisgarh Amitabh Jain demanding action on the complaint of selling non-standard seeds in the market by seed producer multinational company "Bayer".

“This year, farmers of many districts have raised a matter regarding quality after testing the seeds of 8433 seeds in many retail counters of Bayer Company. On which no action was taken against the company. The farmers have certified evidence of 8433 non-standard seeds of Bayer Company and even today the officers of the company are engaged in selling their seeds by luring farmers offering them freebies on large scale purchase”, said Srivas in his letter.

He has demanded investigation on whether the physical and genetic purity of the seed is at the standard level of each packet. The farmers whose 8433 seeds having more than 30% ‘Badra’ were compensated by the company or not. The seeds of 8433 are taken from the farmers for Rs 65 per kg and after 2 months they are being sold to the farmers for Rs 330, this is profiteering and robbery.
