Health department conducted tubectomy on 101 women to meet target in violation of rules

Ambikapur: A major carelessness on the part of the health department had come to the fore in Mainpat Janpad Panchayat of Ambikapur where the department conducted tubectomy on 101 women in a hurry to meet the target. The department executed the operation in just seven hours.

As per government guidelines, only 30 persons should be sterilized in a single day, but all the rules were flouted here and 101 women were operated upon.

It is learned that during this the women had to wait for hours in hunger and suffer throughout the day. Unfortunately, the department had not made any arrangement for them.

The situation was that hundreds of women were made to lie on the ground at once. No one had put on a mask and no social distancing was taken care of.

Whereas the fear of the third wave of Covid is looming large. Despite this, the doctors of the department were seen playing with the lives of the people.

Mainpat BMO R K Singh said that according to the guideline of the government, only 30 women were to be operated on, but the number kept on increasing. This happened because of motivators. Those who came were not ready to go back without operation. BMO has admitted that a mistake has been made, but it will not be repeated in the future.
