Raipur. Today, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant inaugurated the newly constructed Jumbo COVID Care Center with oxygenated beds for COVID treatment. Presiding over the program, Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan dedicated Jumbo Covid Care Center to the people of Bhilai and Chhattisgarh.
The114-bed COVID First-Line Treatment Facility is on the premises of its HRD Centre. A 1.5 km long pipeline supplies gaseous oxygen from the plant. The work was accomplished, based on the design prepared by the "Center for Engineering Technology" (CET).
The facility is exclusively for treating COVID patients with mild to moderate symptoms. There are plans to develop it into a health care centre to provide care in less severe cases. If any such patients become critical, they will get referred to higher centres like Covid Hospital.
Chhattisgarh Health Minister TS Singhdeo, who was in this meeting, expressed his gratitude to the management. He also said that during the initial days of the second wave, the Durg division was affected the most. But today, with proper management and the cooperation of doctors, the infection rate is lower than the Bastar division. He further explained that the shortfall felt in the peak time of the virus was the ICU beds. The lack of ICUs and the need for this become evident with increasing infections. A 500-bed hospital with oxygen is also present in the area, but, I would be very grateful if the centre can provide ICU beds keeping in view the plan. Health Minister TS Singhdeo expressed his gratitude and thanks to the Ministry of Steel and SAIL for making this Jumbo Covid Care.
