Raigarh police arrests three people in connection with online loot of Rs 10.22 lakh

Raipur: A special team of Raigarh district police has arrested three vicious thugs for allegedly duping a man of Rs 10.22 lakh in an online pension scam.  

As per police sources retired pensioner ASI Fakir Chand Sidar, a resident of Pusaur registered a complaint of withdrawal of Rs 6, 44,000 from his bank account in Pusaur police station on October 6. He said that an unknown caller enquired about his pension over call. During the call he also took number of his ATM card after which he went to bank to block his card. Savings in the bank account were safe then. When he went to bank on October 5 to withdraw money, the bank officer informed him that on October 2 and 3 Rs 6.44 lakh has been withdrawn by an unknown person. After the crime was registered, Rs 3, 78,000 was withdrawn by an unknown person from the joint account of his wife on October 10. The cyber cell and Pusaur police staff have played a commendable role in the success of online fraud.

As per the instructions of SP Santosh Singh a thorough review of the online crime file was done by senior officers. Following this, a special team of cyber cell and police station Pusaur was formed for arresting the accused. The suspects Khirodhar Mahato alias Mithun father Mehru Mahto age 22 years, Shravan Karmakar father Jhagaroo Karmakar 28 years and a minor boy, all residents of village Thakurchak in Dumri Tehsil of Giridih district in Jharkhand were brought to Raigarh from Jharkhand by special team with the help of local police.

On stern questioning from the suspects, they told that their team has the main leader Laxman Mandal who specializes in withdrawing money online using ATM, mobile. Among them, Laxman used to lead the team. After the confession of crime police has seized their mobile phones and Rs 26,500. The police is also trying to find the main accused Laxman Mandal.
