Raipur: Health minister TS Singh Deo has expressed dissatisfaction over providing financial aid for opening and operating private hospitals in rural areas of the state.
Talking to media persons, the minister said that no advice has been taken from him in this regard. Responding to a question regarding giving industry status to health in Chhattisgarh and giving concessions and grants to open private hospitals in rural areas, the minister said that he has also read this news, however, he does not agree with any such plan. “There is a paucity of money in providing health facilities, in such a situation, the government should give financial help to the villages to open private hospitals and the hospitals should charge the cost of treatment from the people; it is not acceptable”, he said.
He said that no specialist will go to rural areas like Sukma and provide free-of-cost treatment to the public. “I don’t know in which rural area context this information is being spread but I don’t agree with this”, he added.
The minister said that he wants to bring a Universal Health Scheme, in which everyone should get free health facilities. If private hospitals provide free treatment to people in villages, then the government does not have any problem.
He also disagreed with running vaccination campaign to increase the figures by fixing a particular day. The minister said that he does not agree to run a vaccination campaign for one day just to show the figures. In such a situation, the vaccines will be over in two-four days. At present, such a situation is being created. He said that now he is contemplating that after improving the second immunization program and health facilities for two days a week, Covid vaccination should be done for the remaining four days, and one day off should also be given in the week.
