Bilaspur: A former Janpad Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who had been absconding in Rs 7,29,500 embezzlement case, has been arrested by the police. According to information, the accused is the former CEO of Masturi Janpad Panchayat in Bilaspur district and he embezzled the money from the 14th Finance Commission Fund.
Pachpedi Thana In-charge Praveen Rajput said that the assistant accountant of Masturi Janpad has lodged a complaint with the police on February 5, 2021. He mentioned in the complaint that Bilaspur District Panchayat Office Assistant Manager Vijay Jaiswal, the then Masturi Janpad CEO D R Jogi, then Kokdi sarpanch Dilesh Kumar Patel, Hardadih gram panchayat secretary Ramnarayan Suryavanshi, branch in-charge assistant grade-3 of Masturi Janpad panchayat Suresh Kumar Kumbhaj, M/s Gayatru Traders Champa Director had withdrawn 7 lakh 29 thousand 500 from the account from Axix Bank branch situated at Kokdi gram panchayat between January 1 and 25, 2020 through a dongle.
Panchayat Deputy Director from Bilaspur carried out an inquiry into the complaint and found embezzlement of the fund. On the basis of the report of the Panchayat Deputy Director, police registered a case against the accused under Sections 420, 120B, and 34. The police arrested the then Janpad CEO 64-year-old D R Jogi from his residence at Mahavir Nagar, Mangala Chowk. The remaining accused were absconding.
