Korba. Rampur MLA Nankiram Kanwar and the district administration have come face to face on the removal of a roadside shop on the Budhwari market bypass road. The MLA does not want to let the shop break at any cost; compliance of the court order has become a challenge for the administration. The agitation by former Home Minister, who is on hunger strike has stirred the administration. Korba SDM has gone on leave till February 12.
A team of administrators and police arrived on Monday, after a court order, to restore the land occupied near Kuan-Bhati Bypass Road. As soon as they initiated action, people from the surrounding area started protesting. Meanwhile, former Home Minister and Rampur MLA Nankiram Kanwar also reached the spot and questioned the entire operation. He sat on a hunger strike and demanded the removal of the Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate).
The agitation that started on Monday turned into a hunger strike by Tuesday. Senior officers of the administration tried to solve the matter, but Nankiram Kanwar refused to budge. SDM Sunil Kumar Nayak also reached the spot on Tuesday morning to talk with Nankiram Kanwar sitting on hunger strike, but the Rampur MLA is adamant on his decision. He has declared that he will only end his hunger strike when the Tehsildar is removed.
