Raipur: The work being done under the Rurban Mission in Chhattisgarh has once again been appreciated at the national level. In the meeting of the Performance Review Committee of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, the work of paver block and fly-ash bricks production in the Multi Activity Center run by Annapurna Village Sangathan in Mandirhasaud Cluster of Raipur district under Rurban Mission was highly appreciated.
Viewing the work done here, senior officials of the Government of India involved in the meeting suggested all the states to conduct maximum livelihood activities through self-help groups. In the online meeting of the Performance Review Committee chaired by Secretary Ministry of Rural Development Nagendra Nath Sinha, panchayat and rural development additional chief secretary Renu G. Pillai and Rurban mission director Iffat Ara were also present.
Dr Biswajit Banerjee, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Rural Development told in the review meeting that Chhattisgarh is one of the leading states in the country in excellent implementation of Rurban Mission. He praised the state for including maximum 13 clusters of Chhattisgarh among the 75 leading clusters of the country selected by the Government of India. In the category of big states, the state performed best in the utilization of Rurban item (CGF). Chhattisgarh is also one of the leading states in the utilization of convergence items with the coordination of various departments in the Rurban Mission. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country which has started the implementation of PFMS integration and geo-tagging of assets from the web portal of the scheme.
In the meeting of the Performance Review Committee, it was suggested to give priority to the work of sanitation, solid waste management and livelihood promotion, giving priority to the spatial planning of the selected clusters under the mission. State Project Coordinator of Rurban Mission R.K. Jha and State Project Manager Rajiv Kumar Tripathi also attended the review meeting through video conference.
